5 Tibetan athletics equestrian members selected into national centralized training course
Recently, the State General Administration of Sports of China held a horsemanship triathlon centralized training course for the National Team in Huizhou, Guangdong Province. The Tibetan competitive horsemanship team including 5 people (one coach and four athletes) was selected to take part in the centralized training course, thereby becoming the biggest team that has been selected into the national centralized training course since the competitive horsemanship sport was first launched.
In recent years, the competitive horsemanship team of Tibet has gained a lot of success in all different kinds of competition.
Last year, in December, the team continuously won good results in the Chinese Horsemanship Tournament Competition as well as in the Nationwide Horsemanship Triathlon Competition. In the Chinese Horsemanship Tournament Competition, the team member Kelzang Phuntsog won the championship in the first round and the second round of the 100CM-115CM level semifinals, Tenzin Luodan won the championship for the high-jump competition; in the championship contest of the Nationwide Horsemanship Triathlon Competition, the team member Kelzang Phuntsog won the individual third place for the three-day competition and the competitive horsemanship team won the collective forth place.
Being selected into the national team’s training course is a precious opportunity for the Tibetan Competitive Horsemanship Team. The team members are working hard, making obvious progress in aspects of individual counterpoise, scratchability and compatibility.
"It is hoped that their better performances will be seen in this year’s competition” said an official from the Administration of Sports of the Tibetan Autonomous Region.
