The tourism market in Qinghai Province before the arrival of this year’s May Day is much more active than that in the past years.

On the national highway 109 going to Qinghai Lake, running big buses can be seen at any time. On the Specialty Street In the Shuijing Valley in Xining, tourists speaking with Shanghai and Gansu accents are excitingly shopping Qinghai specialties.

Many travel agencies indicated recently that, during this May Day vacation, group tour receptions and reservations are obviously much higher than those during the “Clear and Bright Festival” this year and also higher than those of the last May Day.

Shen Yuping, deputy director of the Qinghai Huyangqing Travel Agency, said, during the May Day vacation, reservations made by tourists to the Qinghai Lake Bird Island Scenic Spot and the Kunlun Mountain are higher than those of last year. At the moment, the travel agency has received almost 200 people’s reservations.

Analysts in tourist industry believe that, following the early arrival of the tourism high season, it can be predicted that the number of visitors to Qinghai this year will increase.

​Reservations from hotels indicate that bookings in a few five-star hotels in Qinghai has numbered to about 30 percent at the moment, and bookings in economy hotels are continuously increasing, especially between Thursdays and Saturdays even higher.

“Nowadays, it is very convenient to book online or via cell phones; tourists normally will do the bookings one or two days before going on their trips.”, said a responsible person working in the Sofitel Xining Hotel.

​It was reported that Qinghai Province has taken measures to welcome the tourism high season, urging efforts to control the tourism market and reinforcing senses of law-abiding and honesty by workers in tourist industry.
