Gang Rinpoche, also called Mount Kailash, lies near Lake Mapham Yutso in Nagri Prefecture west of China's Tibet Autonomous Region. It is considered a sacred place of Bon, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.

2014 is the year of horse in Tibetan calendar, occurring every twelve years. According to Tibetan tradition, Buddhists make pilgrimage to holy mountains in the year of horse and to holy lakes in the year of sheep. As the most sacred mountains in Tibet, Mount Mt. Gang Rinpoche in west Tibet receives much more visitors than usual in such a year. The Gang Rinpoche is expected to witness over 60,000 pilgrims and visitors in 2014.

The Potala Palace is the first destination for most tourists upon their arrivals in Lhasa, capital city of Tibet. The Potala Palace, world’s highest palace as well as monastery, is a great work of the Tibetan people and has been renovated for 7 times since 2002. In 2012, the administration office of the palace decided to keep daily tourist capacity steady within 4000 to reduce human damage to a minimum. The admissions to the Potala Palace is 200 yuan (32USD) per person for tourist season, and 100 yuan(16 USD) for the rest period of the year.
