The severe blizzard slammed part of Sichuan-Tibet Highway with a recorded snowfall on Feb, 21, 2016. And the worst hit area was Kangding, a city of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in western Sichuan province of Southwest China. The extreme weather led to an unprecedented snowfall (measuring 38.3mm) overnight, from Feb, 21 to Feb, 22. It was believed to be the largest snowfall ever recorded over the past 10 years in Kangding.

A traffic police braved the cold in the midnight.

In addition, the heavy snow crippled part of G318 National Highway in Zheduo Mountain, making driving extremely dangerous on icy road. To prevent serious accident, the traffic police department of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture responded to the natural disaster promptly. All traffic policemen were deployed at key mountains and the road patrol was also strengthened to weed out possible danger and disperse the traffic jam.
