Tibet to build accessible tourist areas

Losang Jamcan, chairman of the government of Tibet Autonomous Region, said on the 27th in Lhasa that, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Tibet will create high-quality tourism product routes and accessible tourist areas. 

It is the first time that Tibet introduced officially the accessible tourist area concept, and furthermore wrote about it in a governmental work report.

The accessible tourist area is equipped with convenient tourism facilities provided by all parties within the region, thereby providing convenience for the tourist companies and tourists in other cities. Upon the foundation of maintaining the comparatively complete autonomy right of various areas/places, this accessible tourist area tries to alleviate barriers as much as possible, and thereby reach goals related to tourist economy coordination within the region.

According to an official introduction from the Tibet Autonomous Region, this action aims at sharing the tourist resources, products, markets and information, thereby realizing different kinds of tourist elements in tourism development (such as the movement of funds, technology, consumption stream, information flow, customer flow and talent flow) can go smoothly; at the same time as actualizing sharing within the region related to tourist transportation, services, accessible complaint filing and resources, markets, infrastructure, brands and technology.

The authorities believe that, the move to establish the accessible tourist area is suitable to the new development mode of Tibet's tourist economy as well as suitable to the operation regularity of the tourism industry at home and abroad. 

Tibet is richly endowed by nature, naturally and humanly, therefore it has abundant tourist resources. 

According to Losang Jamcan, in the past five years, the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple have been upgraded into 5A level scenic spots; and furthermore that the number of visitors that Tibet received broke through 20 million with a total profit of 28 billion yuan in 2015. Tibet has also successfully held the International Tourism Cultural Fair for two times. 

Losang Jamcan said that, Tibet will work hard to realize the reception of 30 million tourists with a total tourism income of 55 billion yuan by the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
