Youths from Anhui cycle 2,100 km for environmental protection

The Tigers, a cycling team consists of five youths from Anhui, arrived in Lhasa, Tibet on Aug. 11 and ended their one-month biking trip to promote the most beautiful county Shitai in Anhui Province in China, according to ah.chinanews.com.cn.

The "Tigers" was initiated by Zhang Zhiqing, a young teacher in the Second High School of Shitai and some of his high school and university classmates. They started from Chengdu, Sichuan on July 11 and rode along the 318 national highway passing by Ya'an, Luding, Batang, Kangmang, Bomi, Gongbujiangda and arrived in Lhasa finally.

During their trip, they had to overcome altitude stress and bad road conditions caused by floods and road reconstruction. The total distance of the journey has surpassed 2,100 kilometers and the average altitude of the trip was higher than 4,000 meters.

In order to promote environmental protection, the "Tigers" completed their trip in the most low carbon way. They also showed the "China's most beautiful natural county" slogan and brochures to citizens and villagers in the passing by places to promote Shitai's natural beautiful scenery, rich culture as well as their views on environmental protection.
