Lhamo Monastery

Lhamo Monastery has become famous due to foreign tourists, as there are more foreign visiting tourists than Chinese tourists. The Lhamo Monastery is mainly comprised of the Girdi Temple in the Sichuan Province and the Serdri Temple of the Gansu Province, which are both temples of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. There is a cave in the canyon behind the Girdi Temple, and in Tibetan "cave" can be translated to "De He Cang". The craggy rocks in the canyon look exactly like a goddess, and "goddess" in Tibetan is called "Lhamo", therefore the full name of the temple is "De He Cang Lhamo", or "the goddess within the cave".
