The Draksum Tso Lake scenic spot is located in deep valleys 50 kilometers away from Gongbo Gyamda County, Nyingchi City, southwest China’s Tibet. The scenic spot combines snow mountains, lakes, forests, waterfalls, farms, relics of historic interests, and ancient temples together, offering diverse sights in different seasons and is known as the “Little Switzerland of the East.”

Draksum Tso means “green water” in Tibetan.

Tourists flock here every year when spring comes. According to Palden Tsewang, vice chief of the county’s tourism bureau, tickets sales of the scenic spot in 2016 reached 20 million yuan (2.9 million US dollars).

In 1994, the Draksum Tso Lake was awarded the national-level scenic spot, and rated in 2000 as a 4A attraction, the second highest rank in China’s tourism attractions, and was followed by a national forest park title honored by the Ministry of Forestry of China in 2001.

The gorgeous weather in April in Draksum Tso Lake at an altitude of 3400 meters attracts many tourists traveling a long way here.

On the central island of the Draksum Tso Lake sits the famous 1500-year-old Tsodzong Gongbo Monastery of the Nyingma Sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
