The “Most Tibet” tourist route competition concludes

The “Most Tibet” tourist route competition judging panel was held in Lhasa a few days ago. Nyingchi developed two day Gongbo’gyamda County Basum Lake-Xincuo trip won the 1st prize as the “Most Tibetan” tourist route; Badan Tsewang’s individual work won a 3rd prize in the aspect of photography.

The competition started in early August, and after a month of collection there was about 500 products in 11 lines reviewed.

Basum Lake is also called Cuogao which in Tibetan means “green water”. The lake’s surface is above 3700 meters and it is located in Gongbo’gyamda county about 50 kilometers away from the high gorge below through which the Ba river flows. The lake is surrounded by verdant and lush forests with mountains beyond covered in snow that have dense vegetation at their bases. The lake is more than 18 kilometers long and the surface area of the lake is more than 28 square kilometers and at it's deepest is 120 meters. The shape of the lake resembles a crescent moon that was embedded into the high mountain valley. The lake’s water is so clear that you can see to the bottom. The surrounding snow capped peaks reflect into its waters. The lake is spectacular as you can see gulls and Siberian cranes resting on the lake’s surface, you can even see the movement of fish as they swim.
