Tourist season starts at world's highest saltwater lake
The 2016 tourist season has begun at Nam Co, the world's highest saltwater lake in Tibet Autonomous Region, the lake administration said Saturday.
Nam Co is 4,722 meters above sea level and is one of the sacred lakes in Tibetan Buddhism.
Nam Co National Park, which opened in October 2013, covers about 1.06 million hectares and includes the main peak of Mount Nyainqentanglha.
The lake enters its frost period every November and thaws in May. Summer is the best season to visit, according to the administration.
