NO.1 Namjagbarwa Peak

Located at Nyingchi Prefecture in the southeastern part of China's Tibet, Namjagbarwa is the fifteenth highest peak in the world, with a height of 25,531 feet (7,782 meters) above sea level.It is one of the most famous scenic spots of Nyingchi, whose name means "spear piercing into the sky" in Tibetan.

The Namjagbarwa Peak is always too shy to come out from the clouds. The legends say two brothers were assigned to guard the southeastern area of Tibet. They were immortals and the elder brother's name was Namjagbarwa, while his younger brother's name was Gyalabele.

Gyalabele was stronger and smarter, so Namjagbarwa was very jealous, which led him to kill his brother - he cut off the head of his kinsman. Both of them turned into mountains afterwards. For this reason the top of Gyalabele is round, and the elder brother –Namjagbarwa – is very regretful of his crime and feels ashamed of being seen by others.

 

NO.2 Basum Co

Basum Co is also known as Conggo Lake. "Conggo" means green water in Tibetan language.

The crescent-shaped lake is located among mountains. Compared with the gorgeous lakes like Nam Co, the Basum Co is tranquil and serene with the surrounding dark green pines and firs. A visitor will forget all the earthly troubles and get drunk with the natural beauty here.

NO.3 Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon

Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon in Nyingchi lies near Mount Namjagbarwa where Brahmaputra River turns. It is the longest valley with it length of 496 kilo meters. The valley is home to varieties of species, due to its wide range of sea levels.

It is subtropical climate under 1000 meters’ sea level suitable for diversified tropical indigenous forest. The climate for the height of the valley varying from 1000 to 2400 is mountainous subtropical with abundant rainfall, where rare and endemic coniferous forests can be found on the higher level. The climate for the height of the valley varying from 2400 to 3000 is mountainous temperate type. Coniferous broad-leaved forest wears mixed color, varying from seasons.

 

NO.4: Medog County

Medog County is situated in Nyingchi Prefecture and the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. There is no other place in Tibet that gets so many titles as Medog, such as the "secret lotus", "lonely island on the plateau", Tibet's "Xishuangbanna", "world's wildlife museum" and "rare animal gene pool".

The county was once isolated from the outside world till a highway was opened in 2013.

In recent years, exploring travel in Medog which mainly based on pedestrianism and self-driving has become a fashion. Some people even consider travelling in Medog can purify their mind and ascend their dreams.

 

NO.5 Lulang County

Lulang in Nyingchi Prefecture, southwest Tibet was dubbed as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in China" by an official vote conducted by over 50 national and regional radio stations around China, reported by Chinatibetnews.com on Nov. 3.

Located 80 kilometers away from Bayi County, Nyingchi Prefecture along the Sichuan-Tibethighway, Lulang is famous for its charming scenery and thick forest. Mountain, forest and farmland dotted with yaks make Lulang a paradise on the Qinghai-Tibetplateau, where its picturesque landscape attracts tourists at home and abroad.
