Peony flowers on Tibet Plateau
The early summer of Tibet is a time when varied flowers on the plateau bloom and flourish. Among such a bewildering variety of flowers, peony flowers stand out with their infiltrating fragrance and gorgeous color.
In Milin County of Nyingchi Prefecture, wild yellow peony flowers bloom. Distributed in the alpine valleys 2,000 to 3,500 meters above the sea level, they are an endangered species of flowers. Over 10,000 peony flowers exist in the world, and 5,000 of them live in this county.
Experts from the Agricultural Academy of Tibet Autonomous Region have long been making contribution to the breeding of peony flowers.
