A total of 200 thousand Yuan (29 thousand US dollars) worth of police equipment supplies were provided to Nepal's border affairs administration during a handover ceremony on March 9 by its Chinese counterpart in southwest China's Tibet to strengthen the Sino-Nepalese police cooperation and improve the ability of both sides to safeguard safety and security of the border.

Held on the friendship bridge in Zham, a port township administered by Nyalam County of Tibet, the ceremony was joined by the Nyalam Border Inspection Station and Nepal's Sindhupalchok County Border Affairs Administration Department, and was followed by a joint law enforcement exercise by both sides.

Zham Port is located at the southern foot of the Himalayas on the China-Nepal border. Before the “4.25' earthquake in 2015, more than 90% of Tibet's border trade and more than 90% of China's trade with Nepal took place here, and the port earned its reputation as "Little Hong Kong".

However, the earthquake caused all residents to evacuate from Zham Port, and it's still closed due to the unstable geological conditions. And this has led to greater difficulty in border control and management.

Nyalam Border Inspection Station, on behalf of the Tibet Public Security Frontier Corps, has held border management talks with Nepal several times. They have provided Nepal with police supplies, office supplies and others, worth more than 1.9 million Yuan (0.3 million US dollars).

Silva, the Sindhupalchok County chief, attended the handover ceremony. He said that Nepal will continue to support China and strengthen bilateral cross-border police cooperation, thus to further strengthen friendly exchanges with China.
