People in disaster-stricken Zham get a new home
On April 14, Tseley prepares tea in her new home in the ZhamZhamNeighborhood. Husband and wife Dawa Tsering and Tseley, originally from Zham, lost their home during the earthquake there on April 25, 2015, but they have a new home—a house in the Samchotse District in Shigatse. This 47 square meter house includes not only a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom, it also includes a television, bed, pots and pans, and other household appliances given freely by the government, as well as free running water, electricity, and internet. There are 523 families and 1,753 people from Zham who have moved to this neighborhood, including Dawa Tsering and his wife, who have received one of 770 free homes provided by the city of Shigatse. Various government agencies, banks, clinics, post offices, and other institutions from Zham have also moved to this neighborhood, continuing to provide services to those affected by the earthquake.
