China's first bilingual e-commerce platform goes online in Qinghai

China’s first Tibetan-Chinese bilingual e-commerce platform went online in Qinghai’s Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture on October 14th. The estimated annual trading volume of the platform is 10 million yuan.

This project not only opens up a commodity trading channel in Tibetan-inhabited areas of Qinghai, contributing to benefits of the Tibetan-inhabited areas, governments, enterprises and people, but also brings the new momentums for people there to get rid of poverty and become better off, which is of great significance towards Tibetan-inhabited areas' informatization and leveraging economic and social development.    

Online shopping has gradually become an indispensable channel for people in the Tibetan-inhabited areas in recent years. However, due to language and literacy level restrictions, many Tibetans who don’t understand Chinese can’t enjoy the convenience of e-commerce.

On the other hand, the agricultural and livestock products and ethnic handicrafts with Tibetan characteristics were unable to "go out", according to Lozang, head of the project. Under this background, the company developed China’s first bilingual e-commerce trading platform.

    

It is reported that this comprehensive integrated e-commerce platform combines B2B, B2C and O2O concepts, with the function orientation of sale to inland of the agricultural and livestock products and ethnic handicrafts with Tibetan characteristics, the entering into Tibet of inland industrial products as well as the convenience services online in Tibetan-inhabited areas.

The platform is set up bilingually, with Tibetan and Chinese languages. People can use the Chinese interface to buy organic dried beef and lamb, Tibetan medicine, Thangka and other specialty products with Tibetan characteristics. Local herdsmen can use the Tibetan interface to buy household electrical appliances, clothing, daily necessities and other inland industrial products.
