Recently, the Chinese Temple of Nepal in Lumbini, Nepal held an important ceremony to receive a precious gift from Tibet: the Lhasa editions of the Tibetan Buddhism classics, Kangyur(100 volumes) and Tengyur (225 volumes).

As led by Wu Chuntai, the Chinese ambassador to Nepal, and Living Buddha Drukhang Thubtan Khedrup, the Vice Chairman of China Buddhists Association and Chairman of the China Buddhists Association in Tibet, the Tibetan sutra-guarding delegation delivered the Tibetan Buddhism classics to the Chinese Temple of Nepal on October 9th. The temple’s monks, lay Buddhists, and students at the Bodhi school of Nepal, who are sponsored by the Chinese Temple of Nepal, witnessed the giving ceremony.

On October 12th, Master Zhongyong said that these woodcut Tibetan Buddhist classics weighed 1.5 tons, and had to be transported by truck from Tibet to Lumbini, Nepal. Due to the landslides in Nepal, the sutras had to be carried manually at places; the total transport took two weeks. In October of 2014, when Losang Jamcan, the Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region visited Nepal, he promised to give this set of Tibetan Buddhism classics to the Chinese Temple of Nepal so as to support the only overseas temple of Chinese Buddhism in its goals to promote Chinese Buddhism and contribute to peace and development in the world.

During the ceremony, Living Buddha Drukhang expressed his wish that the temple continue its work in spreading Chinese Buddhism culture, develop international exchanges, better serve the local community, and to do more charity work and practical work.

The Tibetan sutra-guarding delegation left Nepal on October 12th to return to Tibet.
