Nyingchi of Tibet that has an average altitude of only 3100 meters and it is very humid with lots of rainfall. It is a place where the percentage of forest coverage is very high. The Tibetan people living here for a long time have been using materials such as earth, wood and stone to build their houses which are decorated with Tibetan style pattern.

House roof structures are designed with double pitch roofs then covered with wooden boards on top of which there is placed a comparatively heavy piece of stone for ventilation and draining.

N
yingchi residential dwelling decoration elements are rich and colorful. Beam-columns and windows are carefully carved and painted with colors by the workers.

The inside walls are also decorated with beautiful and sophisticated frescos which are mainly the lucky eight-treasure paintings and reveal the mythologies.

There stands a steep snow-capped mountain on the east side of Lake Basongcuo in Nyingchi where the Gaocuo Village with a panoramic view of the lake can be found. The village preserves perfectly the Tibetan traditional residential architectural style.
