Major programs signed at the 3rd Tibet Expo

An important event at the 3rd China Tibet International Tourism and Culture Expo (Tibet Expo), the signing ceremony for major programs, was held in Lhasa on September 12th.

At this year’s Tibet Expo, there were over 140 contracts signed with domestic and international vendors, with total investment at more than 100 billion yuan. The signing of 16 major programs with almost 10 billion yuan in investment, involving airlines, tourism, energy, city construction, farming and herding technology, etc., meeting both national industry development goals and the development vision for Tibet.

Some highlights at the signing ceremony include China Tibet’s partnership with Nepal to establish Himalaya Airlines, with 166 million yuan in investment, as well as 12 joint projects featuring large state enterprises and Tibet, with 8.2 billion yuan in investment.

In addition, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) and the Investment Bureau of the Tibet Autonomous Regionsigned an in-depth strategic development agreement; China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC)’s Fifth Research Institute and the Tourism Development Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region signed an agreement to develop the aerospace industry and build an aerospace-themed hall of science; Air China and the Tourism Development Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region signed an agreement called “Tourism + Flight” to develop Tibet, etc.

Deng Xiaogang, Deputy Party Secretary of the Tibet Autonomous Region, said the effective implementation of these programs will promote the efficacy and profit of businesses, advance the opening-up and partnerships for Tibet, and bring a positive influence to the economic and social development in Tibet.
