In addition to common vocabulary, there is also new, more regularly used terminology, some Sanskrit words and official terminology from Tibetan history archives. It is suitable for usage among a number of different groups, including primary school up to university and even researchers.

Dobi Tsering Dorje, chief editor of the dictionary and editor at Tibet People’s Publishing House, said: “With development of the times, the usage of many inherent Tibetan terms in existing Tibetan dictionaries is not high and many new terms are not included. The main reason for compiling this dictionary was to adapt to the constant changing requirements of the Tibetan language.

According to reports, entry selection and interpretation for this dictionary mainly reference the “Modern Chinese Dictionary”. In addition to covering Tibetan history, literature, medicine, astronomy, folklore and other types of vocabulary, it also includes interpretations of other nationalities and countries, national profiles and vocabulary used in the field of modern technology.
