Climbing Mt.Qomolangma in 5D will be expected in 2017

Construction began on the new Mt. Qomolangma Museumon on May 18 this year, also the 40th International Museum Day, by Tingri County, Shigatse,SW China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

A total of 41.85 mln  yuan is to be invested into the project, which will be located to the west of North Xuebao Road in Tingri County and will cover a total area of 21,778 square meters, with a total construction area of 6,958 square meters. It will be the largest county-level museum in the Shigatse.

The highlight of the project is the high-technology 5D cinema, which lets visitors experience the whole course of climbing Mt.Qomolangma. If you want to go to Mt. Qomolangma, but your body and other factors are not suitable, you can now safely experience the atmospheric changes, altitude changes, wind speeds, and various difficulties one would encounter over the course of summiting Mt. Qomolangma at the Mt. Qomolangma Museum. The experience lets visitors safely achieve their dream of climbing Mt. Qomolangma.

 “The project is currently progressing smoothly,” said Wang Xudong, head of the Publicity Department. “The main part of the project is expected to be done by the end of this year, and we expect visitors to be able to visit the museum by next year.” He explained that the architecture of the museum will have strong traditional Tibetan aspects and characteristics of the local culture.

The overall architecture will be divided into 5 stories from top to bottom. On the bottom floor, there will be a cultural art base containing set collections, displays, performing arts, research, and education, where visitors can come experience the details of the rich culture of the Mt. Qomolangma scenic area. Visitors will gain a better understanding of the local culture and traditions, customs, traditional clothing, samples of flora and fauna, and Qomolangma fossils.

There will be an experience exhibition hall on the second floor, and a souvenir showroom on the third floor. The museum has amassed a large collection of Qomolangma fossils, paleo-organism fossils, conch shell fossils, as well as those lost in folk intangible cultural heritage products. At the same time, visitors can use Wi-Fi inside the museum to download the Qomolangma Park mobile client to understand all the attractions, lines, and other related introductions about the park.
