The proportion of college student Communist Party members in Tibet has risen to 17.2 percent.

There are currently six universities and colleges in Tibet with 36,000 students and more than 6000 college student party members.

Tibet’s education system for grassroots party organizations has reached full coverage. The target of producing junior college party members and party branches among senior students has also been achieved. There are 1574 grassroots party organizations in Tibet’s education system, of which 183 are college party branches.

Director of Tibet’s education department, Ma Shengchang said that Tibet has always given prominence to party development in colleges and the establishment of staff and student party branches. Tibet is looking for practical establishment of party branches under class requirements; to achieve full coverage of college party organizations; and provide strong organizational guarantee to implementing the party’s education policy, firmly opposing separatism and safeguarding unification of the motherland.

Pasang Tsering, student of Tibet University, joined the party in 2012. In his view, student party members are a growth group with a thirst for knowledge and acquiring new skills. Study, service and innovation are the basic responsibilities and important tasks of college student party members. It’s also an important carrier for highlighting unique features of student party members.

“As a student party member I usually pay more attention to party policies than other students. It allows me to focus on my own learning, which I think will continue to progress,” said Pasang Tsering.
