Tibet delivers hydropower to neighboring province
China's Tibet Autonomous Region has delivered 330 million kilowatt-hour(kwh) of electricity to neighboring Qinghai Province since it started transmitting hydropower outside the region on June 1, the regional power grid said Tuesday.
That is equivalent to reducing coal consumption by 110,000 tonnes and carbon dioxide emission by 300,000 tonnes, according to the regional branch of the State Grid.
Tibet, which holds nearly a third of China's total hydropower resources, is expected to deliver 3.4 billion kwh of hydropower outside the region annually by the end of 2020, making its contribution on emission reduction, it said.
