The Third China Sanjiangyuan Tourism Festival of Mani Stones on the Ice was held on February 2 in Xiewu Town, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai province.

Sanjiangyuan means the source region of the Yangtze River, Yellow River and Lancang River.

On the day of the event, residents along the Tongtian River in Yushu voluntarily joined to create wonderful Mani stones on the ice.

Nomads are placing “longevity stones”.

A Tibetan woman is waiting for the festival to begin.

Nomads are carrying piles of sand and stones to the scheduled spot.

Nomads are flatting the sand and stones to get them into shape.

Mani stones are gradually formed on the frozen Tongtian River.
