The village which combines residency, tourism, and inheriting ethnic culture not only enables herders to end long-term nomadic lifestyle, but also offers accommodations for tourists.  “My house has two bedrooms and a living room, a new room for prayers and sutra chanting, and also two guest bedrooms for tourists.” Herder Zhou Maocao said.  “I’m also growing vegetable and fruits in the yard to give my guests fresh green veggies.” Zhou is hopeful about the future.

“I’m confident I’ll provide a great vacation to my guests. I hope more people will come to visit." The Sangkho Ethnic Cultural Village was launched with funding from the Industrial and Commercial Bureau of Gansu Province, the herdsmen’ own investment, and some subsidies.

Total gross floor area is 10 thousand sqm, with more than 300 sqm of usable floor area per house. The village will inject new vitality into tourism programs on the Sangkho Grassland, help the herdsmen families thrive, and promote tourism development in Xiahe County.
