Internet reaches 80 pct of Tibet's villages
By the end of December 2015, 4,208 Tibetan administrative villages have access to internet, accounting for 80 percent of the total, up from 19.6 percent five years ago.
According to the Tibet Information and Communications Regulatory Work Meeting held recently, 1.87 million households in Tibet had access to Internet, accounting for 59 percent, of the total, including 255,000 fixed broadband users.
The telecom operators in Tibet gradually speeded up the network while reducing the charge in 2015. The charges of the fixed broadband and mobile Internet traffic were reduced by 30 percent.
So far, all the townships in Tibet have had access to optical cable, further enhancing the ability to support the "Internet+".
