Coming soon: the Shambhala Tourism and Art Festival

The annual Shambhala Tourism and Art Festival will open on the 17th July in the Tibetan area of Gansu Province. This festival will show magnificent cavalry, Guozhuang dance performed by tens of thousands of people, campfire gathering, Tibetan opera, display of traditional tents, folk music, etc.

Shambhala originated from a folk legend with Tibetan Buddhist thoughts and it refers to a peaceful and serene homeland.

Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Gannanlocated in the southwest of Gansu Province, is abundant in tourism resources. It not only boasts a totally intacted nomadic culture, Buddhism as well as folk culture amongst the local Tibetan people it also possesses magnificent natural landscape, which earned this place the name "Shambhala with 9 colors" and "Heaven on earth". All these have made the Gannan Tibetan area a more and more popular destination for tourists. In the first 5 months of this year, this area welcomed 2.7million visitors, with a year-on-year growth of 60.1%, and the total tourism revenue increased by 67.7% year-on-year, amounting to 1.234 billion yuan.
