The first online Tibetan New Year’s Gala started on Jan. 12 with 2016 local performers invited to sing together, China Tibet News reported.

According to the Director of the Gala, this year’s performance features the participation of grassroots performers and fun.

The Gala organizer has released a Tibetan folk song titled “We Are Here Together” on the official WeChat of Tibet Television Station for singers who are interested in joining the event to sing along.

“You only need to pull out your phone, take a video of yourself while singing along to this song, and then upload the video via the designated email,” an organizer said. “The organizers will select 2016 participants to display a festive scene for the New Year celebrations. The music and dance in the Gala are all original. ”

In addition，the Lhasa Broadcasting and TV Station has finished recording the “2016 Year of Monkey Lhasa Spring Festival and Losar TV Gala” a few days ago with the theme of “Beautiful Homeland, Happy Lhasa”. Performances include folk medleys, youth song and dance, Tibetan comedy sketches, skits, and original songs and dances to “provide a visual feast for viewers.”

Apart from professional performers of the Lhasa Song and Dance Ensemble, folk art troupes from various counties around Lhasa, amateurs as well as performers from inland China will also be invited with more than 350 performers in total.

The 2016 Year of Fire Monkey Lhasa Spring Festival and Losar TV Gala will be broadcast on Lhasa TV Station on the morning of the first day of the Tibetan New Year or Losar.
