Tibet to keep up building Tibetan-Qiang-Yi ethnic cultural industry corridor

Tibet will continue to promote the construction of the Tibetan-Qiang-Yi cultural industry corridor with Sichuan, Guizhou and Qinghai provinces to boost its distinctive cultural industry in the next five years, with the estimated total investment of over 456.6 million U.S. dollars, Xinhua reported.

According to the latest statistics of Tibet Department of Culture, 101.37 million dollars was invested in Tibet’s cultural projects during the 12th Five-Year Plan Period(2015-2020), including roughly 98.63 million dollars by the Central Government and 1.22 million dollars by Tibet regional government.

In 2015, nearly 5,000 performances were put on for farmers and herders by Tibetan professional art troupes and folk art troupes. Between 2015 and 2020, Tibetan opera, drama, singing and dancing and other art forms have been brought to the local people. In addition, information related to technological skills and public health was also provided to help enrich their cultural life, according to Nyima, director of the Public Culture Division of Tibet Culture Department.

The General Plan of the Tibetan-Qiang-Yi Ethnic Cultural Industry Corrdidor was initiated in 2014. It is the first national regional cultural industry development project, involving seven provines in China's western region centered on the Tibetan, Qiang and Yi ethnic groups with the population of 76 million and covering an area of 68 square kilometers,
