Nepali worker to scale Mt.Qomolangma to mark Worker's day

A member of the Small Hotel and Restaurant Workers Association is set to scale Mt. Qomolangma to mark the International Worker's Day on May 1 by representing all the workers of Nepal, the National News Agency, RSS reported.

At a press conference, Nima Dorje Sherpa announced that his move was to prove that the workers too are capable of climbing the world's highest mountain.

Sherpa, who will be scaling Mt. Qomolangma along with his team, will be hoisting a total of 18 flags including the national flag of Nepal, the flags of the International Labor Organization and Independent National Democratic Confederation of Nepalese Trade Union affiliated 13 workers associations.

The 21-year-old Sherpa said: "I am going to summit the Mt. Qomolangma in order to introduce all Nepali workers association in the international arena and to boost up the morale of the workers all over the world."

According to the report, the total cost for the entire expedition is estimated at some 2 million Nepali rupees (28,571 U. S. dollars).
