Indian army team to scale Mt.Qomolangma
A team of 20 Indian army personnel is to scale Mt.Qomolangma on April, Nepali National News Agency RSS reported on Saturday.
During a press conference organized at Indian Embassy Friday, it was informed that the team is scheduled to scale Mt. Qomolangma from north face within two months.
On the occasion, Indian Charge d' Affairs to Nepal Kheya Bhattacharya stated that the Indian Army had already scaled Mt.Qomolangma three times from the year 2001 till now under the Indian Army's campaign to scale all the mountains above 8,000 meters.
It was also informed that besides Mt.Qomolangma, the Indian Army had scaled Mt.Annapurna first, Mt. Kanchanjungha, Mt. Lhotse and Mt.Choyu under the campaign.
Till now, a total of 16 men and 5 women from India have successfully scaled Mt. Qomolangma twice from the south face and once from north face.
On the occasion, team leader Lt. Colonel Thapa apprised that the 20-member expedition team comprises 14 mountaineers and 6 mountain guides.
The team is scheduled to leave Kathmandu for China's Lhasa on Saturday and reach the base camp and start the expedition from April 7.
