Two record holders to re-scale Mt.Qomolangma
Two world record holder mountaineers, Appa Sherpa and Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa, will make an attempt to rescale the world's highest mountain Qomolangma this season, the National News Agency RSS reported on Wednesday.
Appa holds the world record for the most number of summits to the world's highest peak at 16 times while Lhakpa had recorded himself in the Guinness Book of World Records by scaling Mt. Qomolangma in the fastest time of 10 hours 56 minutes.
They are both part of "the Super Sherpa Sagarmatha Mountaineering Campaign 2007".
According to information shared at a press conference here Tuesday, as part of the campaign a documentary film would also be made to highlight the state of Nepali Sherpa mountaineers.
The mountaineering team comprises eight Sherpas. The Nepali government has exempted the royalty of 40,000 U.S. dollars required for the summit.
