Xinjiang mountaineers to reach Qomolangma Base Camp
April 2, the Xijiang Qomolangma Mountaineering Expedition arrived at the Qomolangma Base Camp at 5,200 meters by travelling along the China-Nepal Highway.
After a three-day adaptation training at the 5,200-meter-base-camp, the Expedition will set out for the advanced base camp at 6,500 meters on April 6.
According to Yang Chunfeng, head of the Expedition, they will ascend the Qomolangma from the north slope at the middle of May based upon the weather.
The Mount Qomolangma (also known as Mount Everest) is located at the top of the Himalayas in east of the China-Nepal borderline. Its north slope is in Tingri County of Tibet while the south slope is in Nepla. With 8,844.43 meters, the Qomolangma is the highest peak in the world. From March to May, it is the best time for ascending the Qomolangma.
