Italian Guardini scores second straight win in Tour of Qinghai Lake
Andrea Guardini from Farnese Vini-Selle Italia (FAR) sprinted to his second straight victory on Monday in the 10th stage of the 11th Tour of Qinghai Lake cycling race.
FAR is an International Cycling Union (UCI) Pro-Continental team with its license held in Britain, but all its riders are Italians.
Hossein Alizadeh of Iran's Tabriz Petrochemical Team (TPT) retained his yellow, blue and polka-dot jersey, which represent the leader of general classification, best Asian rider and best climber respectively.
The green jersey for the best sprinter still went to Luka Mezgec from Slovenia's SAVA (SAK).
The 10th stage started at the city of Wuwei and finished at Jingtai County, both located in Gansu Province, covering a total distance of 191 kilometers.
This stage consisted mostly of flat roads, with two sprints and a Category 3 climb at an altitude of 2,166 meters above sea level. For the remaining three stages, the altitude will stay below 2,000 meters.
After Monday's race concluded, all riders transferred to the city of Zhongwei in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, where the next stage is set to begin. This is the first time that the Tour of Qinghai Lake has extended its race route to Ningxia.
This year's Tour of Qinghai Lake, which kicked off on June 29, will last 14 days and cover 2,680 kilometers, with the average altitude reaching 2,391 meters above sea level and the maximum standing at 3,865 meters.
