Tibet's top government official on May 19 said that China's prosperity is the support for Tibet's moving onward.

"A prosperous and strong motherland is forever the powerful backing for the development and progress of Tibet," said adma Choling, chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office in Beijing when he talked about his personal understandings in three aspects when reviewing the 60 years of great changes in Tibet.

The other two aspects that he mentioned are: "Ethnic regional autonomy system is the foundation of the development and progress of Tibet"; "To follow a development path with Chinese characteristics and suited to Tibet’s regional conditions is the inevitable request for Tibet's scientific development."
