On June 2, 2013, several Australian media including Sydney Morning Herald and The Canberra Times republished an article titled "Coalition in strife over Tibet show" published by Australia Tibet Council, an organization for "independence of Tibet", focusing on the so-called "strife" over a speech made by the Opposition foreign affairs spokeswoman Julie Bishop at the launch of the “Beauty of Tibet" art exhibition and the ensuing objection and even "warning" by that organization and the Gillard government respectively.

How could an ordinary art exhibition trigger off "coalition in strife" in Australia, a developed western country boasted for "democracy"and "freedom"?

Looking into what is behind the "strife", it is not hard to find out the double standards of the western politicians on the "Tibet issue", as well as the truth that the Dalai clique uses the "independence of Tibet" as their political leverage to split up China.

Jointly sponsored by All China Federation of Returned Overseas, China Tibet Online (Tibet.cn), and Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, it was the second overseas tour of the "Beauty of Tibet" Painting and Photography Exhibition, with the first one held in Berlin and Hamburg of Germany in July 2012.

In 2013, a series of activities were held in Canberra, capital of Australia and its major cities such as Sydney and Melbourne, including exhibitions, seminars as well as short films. A total of 280 paintings and photographs were displayed, showing a true Tibet to the locals.

The exhibition has drawn attention and won good comments of visitors from all walks of life in Australia and the press. The local media such as Australian Chinese Daily and The Sing Tao Daily praised it as "a good opportunity for Australian people to know about Tibet".

Nothing but the credit bothered some of the western politicians and Tibetan separatists, who jumped out and rebuked the art show immediately.

The speech by Julie Bishop mentioned in the article "Coalition in strife over Tibet show" was given at the opening ceremony of the "Beauty of Tibet" Art Exhibition held in Canberra on May 29, 2013. Ms.Bishop said, with the advent of the "Century of Asia", the cooperation in various fields between Australia and China is getting closer and closer than ever before. And Australians want to know more about China. Showing beautiful landscapes and the Tibetan people, the exhibition would enhance Australians' understanding of Tibet's development today, she also said.

Unfortunately, such a courtesy short speech was labeled by some people with ulterior motives. According to the report mentioned above, Bishop has been accused of a diplomatic gaffe by the Gillard government because she spoke at the launch of an exhibition on Tibet saying "the exhibition would enhance Australians' understanding of Tibet" two weeks before Dalai Lama's visit to Australia.

The article also claimed that Foreign Affairs Minister Bob Carr declined an invitation because he "had a prior engagement", whereas his spokesman said, "if Ms Bishop had attended the exhibition aware of what she was endorsing, this was her right, but if she had endorsed it unintentionally, she needed to be more careful", and "Tibet has been a sensitive international issue for some decades … It is important to be careful of what you appear to be endorsing."

In response, Ms Bishop explained that she was asked to make some remarks when she arrived at the launching ceremony at the Chinese embassy on Wednesday, but "made absolutely no political point". Moreover, she restated what she had said:"with reference to the beauty of the Tibetan landscapes and people in the images, the exhibition would help Australians better appreciate Tibet".

The report quoted Kyinzom Dhongdue, an "exiled Tibetan", as saying that Tibetans had labeled the show "propaganda", and were "dismayed" by Ms Bishop's speech. She also said the timing of the exhibition was "perverse".

The above is the alleged "coalition in strife", filled with western politician's double standards and the Dalai clique's feeble arguments in the article.

The images on show reflecting Tibetan people's religious freedom and daily life have dramatically enhanced Australians' understanding of Tibet and rebutted the shameless lies made by a few western politicians and the Dalai clique. That's why they panicked in exasperation!

As we all know, Tibet has always been one of the hottest issues about China in the world for some reason. However, many foreigners have never been to Tibet. So what they have heard of is far from the reality.

By taking full advantage of the big gap between the rumor and the truth, the Dalai clique spent over 50 years spreading mendacious information in which "today's Tibet is a living hell". In addition to disseminating anti-the Communist Party of China propaganda to western politicians and the ordinary people, they went so far as to incite immolations in the Tibetan-inhabited areas. In order to smear the CPC, the Dalai clique shamelessly made use of fellow Tibetans' life and blood for their own propaganda.

Meanwhile, the Dalai clique is quite clear that the real situation in Tibet is far from what they have described. Hence they hate any activity that offers faithful accounts of the status quo of Tibet today and spare no efforts to disturb China's international exchange activities concerning Tibet for fear that their lies might be disclosed.

"Paintings are more powerful than languages, and photographs are more appealing than words." The "Beauty of Tibet" exhibition is a sore point with the Dalai clique because it opened a window of the real Tibet for foreigners and provides people whoever interested in Tibet with a platform to get to know it.

It is a repeatedly-used nasty trick played by the Dalai clique to fabricate a dark Tibet as well as to cover up the harmonious Tibet in reality. In a nutshell, whatever they do is to cater to the need of a few trouble-making western politicians, who vainly attempt to interfere with China's internal affairs on the "Tibet issue" and fight against their opponents within their countries. The so-called "Coalition in strife" triggered off by the exhibition is a typical case of the coalition between the Dalai clique and a few western politicians, each using the other for their own ends. Anybody with conscience could see through the nature of the Dalai clique through this strife.

Truth is the most precious strength, of which only those who are dark inside would be in fear. They are bound to be rejected by the people. However active the Dalai clique and a few politicians are temporarily, the tides of time would clean up their clownish coalition. As what has been expressed by Chen Yuming, China's ambassador to Australia, "Both the development of Tibet and the promotion of China-Australia relations are incorporated into the Chinese dream. In the process of pursuing the dream, the two peoples are sure to create a better future hand in hand."
