A Foreign Ministry spokeswoman on Wednesday voiced strong dissatisfaction with a statement made by British Foreign Office Minister Hugo Swire on Monday in which the official expressed serious concerns about the human rights situation in Tibet.

"We are strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to it," spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.

Hua said the British side has made a groundless accusation on issues related to Tibet and grossly interfered with China's domestic affairs.

Hua said China-Britain relations have been harmed, citing a meeting that occurred between Prime Minister David Cameronand the Dalai Lama in May.

She urged Britain to "earnestly reflect on its incorrect behavior and take China's stance seriously," respect China's sovereignty through concrete action and stop interfering with China's domestic affairs.
