Why is Zhu Weiqun cross with the Dalai Lama?

At the moment the two people are arguing against each other. As long as the Dalai Lama engages in "Tibetan independence", he will certainly meet with criticism from Zhu Weiqun; after Zhu Weiqun published an opinion on ethnic religious issues, the other side immediately misinterpreted it and criticized it. Why is it so? Today we will divulge a little secret.

Starting from 2004 till 2010, Zhu Weiqun was, in news reporting, “the person-in-charge of the department concerned from the central government”, who was responsible for meeting with private representatives of the Dalai Lama for several rounds of contacts. The Dalai Lama side said there were nine rounds, because one time they did not bring any assistant; even though at that time the talks lasted all day and were no different from formal talks, it could only be considered as an informal talk. No matter there are nine rounds or ten rounds of talks, the Dalai Lama has not expressed any sincerity, so this number has little significance.

In previous talks, leaders from the central government or the United Front Work Department would provide the Dalai Lama side with some instructions and then asked them for opinions. In that atmosphere, they were very cautious, afraid of saying something wrong and being criticized, let alone present any opinions.

However, when Zhu Weiqun took over the work of contacts and talks, he let the other side speak first. But after waiting for them to finish speaking, Zhu Weiqun would begin to criticize their points one by one. When the other side mentioned they did not engage in independence, Zhu Weiqun would list the times and places when the Dalai Lama advocated for independence, thus putting the other side in a passive position.

Once Zhu Weiqun told the Dalai Lama’s representatives that the issue of Tibet’s sovereignty and the right to rule have long been resolved, and there is definitely no such thing as a “Tibet issue”. After hearing this, the face of the Dalai Lama’s representative turned pale and after quite a while said slowly, "We’ve talked all day.  If there is no ‘Tibet issue’, we can’t explain this to the Dalai Lama."

The problem does not end. From about 2009, the Dalai Lama proclaimed himself as a “son of India”, saying that the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama Tsangyang Gyatso was located in the Indian territory. This caused a lot of trouble. The Dalai Lama side is insisting on being a son of India, and the Zhu Weiqun side is scolding him for betraying his motherland and forgetting his ancestors. No wonder the two have conflicts between them.

On an unknown date, Zhu Weiqun composed some couplets that were hung in his office:

A vast country as China is, no inch of land should be lost;

With a good historical record, I don’t owe much to our future generations.

So, do you think Zhu Weiqun can get along with the Dalai Lama?
