The Dalai Lama's leather shoe vs VOA's net survey

While the 76-year-old Dalai Lama was celebrating his birthday through various activities in the US, his followers around the world are racking their brains to express their best wishes to this funny master, who took off his slippers and put on a pair of heavy leather shoes in the hot summer before flying to the White House to celebrate his birthday.

The Dalai Lama's way of birthday celebration differs greatly from the Tibetan traditions, in which he should be celebrating it with relatives and friends. However, this old lama ignored his exiled Tibetans, his pious followers, and flew a long way to the US for the meeting.

In fact, his travel to the US is nothing of a birthday celebration but a political visit. With the painstaking efforts of some "enthusiasts" in American Congress, the Dalai Lama finally realized his dream of meeting with the US President Barack Obama just a few hours before leaving, which  made his travel a rewarding one.

In Dalai Lama's words, he reputed Obama as his "old friend", and thus their political talk as a pep talk for his friend before the approaching 2012 presidential election. But the hasty and unpresentable meeting proved that the Dalai Lama was kissing Obama's ass. But to this old lama, a meeting with Obama could be the best gift for his birthday no matter how it was held. In other words, the success of his travel only depended on whether he could meet his "old friend" Obama for he knew well what would be going on in the meeting. Obama knew this too, so he presented the meeting and called it a "private" one. But we Chinese knew better about their tricks.

For the Dalai Lama, his birthday could be called "meaningful" for it endows him an opportunity for a new illusion. He was emboldened by the meeting and could now begin with "it is hard to say" when talking about the situation in Tibet in the next twenty or even thirty years. At the same time, he expressed his confidence that he could return to Tibet for a reunion in his lifetime.

As for his remark of "hard to say" and his confidence, the author believes that Obama's "reception" has injected new psychedelia for the Dalai Lama to be immersed in his reverie. Besides, being well aware of his sin of deceiving his followers, the Dalai Lama has no alternative but to take this reception to embolden himself for fearing that his lie would be exposed and his followers may generate the sense of disillusionment.

However, we find that wearing slippers in the freezing winter and heavy feather shoes in hot summer is Dalai's another trick after deliberation. His  purpose was to attract people's attention and change his odd political image as Murdock had said in an interview with the American magazine Vanity Fair years ago, "he's a very political old monk shuffling around in Gucci shoes".

One week after the Dalai Lama's birthday, VOA conducted a net survey on "Your view on whether the Chinese government should allow the Dalai Lama to return to his hometown." By 7 o' clock, July 15th, a total of 1,770 netizens voted for the survey, and the result showed that the majority of the participants chose the positive answer.

Seeing this result, the author was reminded of a previous report, which revealed that the US has some well-trained and well-equipped paid writers, otherwise known as shuijun, the "water army". Each of these people has dozens of net identities, by which they can give their voice on different subjects in different identities.

It is also said that VOA did not lag behind in founding its well-equipped "water army", who are obedient and can stand out to express their opinions whenever needed on behalf of a concerted party. With their different net identities, these people have to do two things this time: one is to make Dalai's leather shoe popular on the Internet to realize his political goal; another is to cover up the real result of the net survey by expressing views to make a fake one.

Is it so simple that Dalai Lama is wearing a pair of leather shoes in the hot summer?

Is VOA conducting a simple net poll survey?

Definitely not!

They both aim to split China in the name of shoes and a survey.
