Debut of Tibet exile's new head unconvincing
For the first time in 53 years, the Dalai Lama did not address his annual “3.10” speech. It seems that the 77-year-old monk has to face the problem of aging.
However, this gives an opportunity to Lobsang Sangay, the new elected head of the so-called "Tibet government in exile" for his debut at the traditional ceremony of March 10th.
It is not uncommon for Mr. Sangay to play up and distort the self-immolation incidents happened in southwest China Sichuan province.
With limited time and knowledge to be a capable new head, Mr. Sangay said nothing new, only the repetition of the Dalai clique's cliché with distorted facts and biased accuses.
Four obvious lies exist in Mr. Sangay's speech on March 10th:
Lie I: Planned riot not "peaceful protests"
Mr. Sangay quoted the London-based Free Tibet Advocacy Group's claim that "police opened fire on Tibetans peacefully protesting against religious repression in Luhuo and Seda County of the southwestern province of Sichuan on January 30, 2012."
However, Palden, 48, who is an ethnic Tibetan and Chief of Seda County for four years, said, "Some people involved in the violence are not locals. They traveled all the way from Tibet Autonomous Region and Qinghai Province, so it is obvious that the riot was planned. It's also the reason why the violence in Luhuo and Seda were only one day apart."
Lie II: The real cause of self-immolations
The recent self-immolators Tsering Kyi, a 20-year-old Tibetan student burned to death due to heavy study pressure after a surgery of her head.
This is a tragedy mourned by both her family and the Chinese government. Premier Wen Jiabao expressed his sadness to the self-immolators when meeting the press on March 14 after the conclusion of the annual parliamentary sessions.
The real causes of self-immolations were avoided in Mr. Sangay's speech.
Lie III: "Middle way policy" is a conspiracy
The essence of Dalai Lama's so-called "middle road" : The Dalai Lama stressed 'a high degree of autonomy' for Tibet and even went so far as to demand the total withdrawal of Chinese troops from Tibet and Han people and people of other ethnic groups residing in Tibet. It is not difficult to observe whether he really hopes for the unification of the motherland or he attempts to sabotage the motherland's unification.
The so-called "high degree of autonomy" means that the Central Government is in charge of the foreign affairs and national defense only, that the relationship between Tibet and the Central Government is defined as that of a so-called "union" and that Tibet should be made an "international peace zone."
But in fact, the Central Government's powers in foreign affairs and national defense exist in name only. So, the "middle road" attempts to overthrow the leading position of the Communist Party of China and to enable the so-called "exile government" to return home and take over Tibet.
Lie IV: More Chinese than Tibetans, seriously?
Not any of the former lies can compare to this one: Mr. Sangay’s "3.10" statement said "there are more Chinese than Tibetans in Tibet".
According to the sixth national census, the total population of Tibet increased from 1 million before the peaceful liberation to more than 3 million, of whom 2.7164 million or 90.48 percent were Tibetans.
Cadres of Tibetan and other ethnic minorities account for 70.3 percent of the total at the autonomous regional level and 81.6 percent at the county and township levels, revealed in "Sixty Years since Peaceful Liberation of Tibet" in July, 2011.
At last
It's a tradition for the Dalai Clique to provoke conflicts and increase tension on every March 10th to memorize the failed revolt and some Tibetans' exile to Dharamsala, India in 1959.
In contrast with the anger triggered by these incidents in former years, this "3.10" seems rather peaceful.
The debut speech of the new head of "Tibet government in exile" breeds doubts about the future of Dalai claque, rather support from their western allies.
"The Economist" points out the only hope of the Dalai clique-"the Dalai Lama has any chance of making Tibetans accept Chinese rules".
