BEIJING, Jul. 12 (China Tibet Online) From Jul. 9 to 12, Sun Chunlan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, went to the junction of Sichuan, Gansu, and Qinghai Provinces to make an inspection in the Tibetan autonomous prefectures of Huangnan, Gannan, and Aba.
This was another inspection within a month following the one in Tibet Autonomous Region.
During the four-day inspection, Sun Chunlan went to Huangnan Prefecture in Qinghai, Gannan Prefecture in Gansu, Zogye and Sungchu counties in Sichuan.
She also visited Gansu Normal University for Nationalities, the Labrang Monastery and Milarepa Pavilion in Gansu, Axi Hospital and Takdrak Academy in Sichuan, as well as the Rongwo Monastery in Qinghai.
Sun Chunlan learned about the construction of small towns, education, health care and monastery management in the Tibetan-inhabited areas. She also visited some old CPC members and poor farmers and herdsmen.
She pointed out that improving people’s livelihood is the starting point and focus of the Party and government’s work. It is important to tackle difficulties and do practical work in order to lay a stable foundation for development and stability in the Tibetan-inhabited areas. In the remote areas between Sichuan, Gansu, and Qinghai, the construction of infrastructure must be sped up with an emphasis on transportation, fully implemented the targeted poverty alleviation plan, and support the industries with better employment to offer more jobs for the disadvantaged group. In addition, more investment will be made in education, health care and cultural activities for the agricultural and pastoral areas. And governments would improve the quality and coverage of bilingual education, and develop vocational education with Tibetan characteristics.
When Sun Chunlan visited Qinghai’s Rongwo Monastery, Gansu’s Labrang Monastery and Milarepa Pavilion, as well as Sichuan’s Takdrak Academy, she said that Tibetan Buddhism has a wide influence in the Tibetan-inhabited areas. The party’s ethnic and religious policies must be fully implemented. The principle of the legal, social and democratic management must be carried out, and monks and nuns must be included in the public service system.
She expressed her hope that the Tibetan Buddhist circle should promote patriotism and love their religion, carry on the fine tradition of safeguarding their country and people, and give Buddhist doctrines proper interpretations in line with the social progress and adaptable to core values of socialism in order to become an important force for national unification, ethnic unity and social stability.
