On the Serfs’ Emancipation Day set on March 28, Losang Jamcan, chairman of the People’s Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region, delivered a speech in Lhasa to fight against splittism, China News reported.
Tibet designated the Serfs Emancipation Day in 2009. Since 2010, the chairman of the Tibet regional government has delivered a speech to mark this day for seven years running.
In 1959, Tibet’s upper-class reactionary group provoked a full-scale armed rebellion in Lhasa. On March 28 that year, the Central Government of China dissolved the former local government of Tibet, led the Tibetan people to carry out the democratic reform, and thoroughly abolished the decadent feudal serfdom, emancipating one million Tibetan serfs.
“The 14th Dalai clique has never stopped activities to split the motherland, which goes against the tide of history. They have completely violated China’s Constitution and the political system and greatly harmed the fundamental interests of the people of various ethnic groups in Tibet. Undoubtedly, they are doomed to fail,” said Losang Jamcan.
