"Thanks to the reform and opening up policy 40 years ago, Tibet's economy has developed rapidly and the potential has been gradually tapped," said Ngapoi Jigyon, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from southwest China's Tibet and vice chairman of the CPPCC Tibet Committee.

Ngapoi Jigyon said that along with the reform and opening up, Tibet's non-state-owned enterprises have grown from nothing existence, from small to large, from weak to strong, and have made great contributions to economic development when introducing the forty-year's development of non-state-owned enterprises in Tibet.

In terms of employment, non-state-owned enterprises have provided more than 80% of employment opportunities in Tibet.

Ngapoi Jigyon pointed out that although Tibet's economy started late and the total amount is not large, its gross domestic product has achieved double-digit growth rate for more than 20 consecutive years, and the growth rate also leads the country.
