Recently, 12 monks from Mongolia's Sain Nomin temple were sent to study at the High-level Tibetan Buddhism College of China for one year.

At the opening ceremony on Nov. 3,  Jampa Chilai, a senior teacher from the college,  read out a letter of congratulations from the Buddhist Association of China. In the letter it said that the Buddhist communities of China and Mongolia enjoy a long-standing friendship and that there have been increasing exchanges in recent years. The organizing of this class builds a bridge for in-depth and friendly exchanges between the two Buddhist communities.

During his speech, Nergue khaitso, Abbot of Sain Nomin temple, said that China and Mongolia have a long-standing history of Buddhist exchanges. In recent years, bilateral relations between Mongolia and China have been friendly and religious cooperation between the two countries continues to expand. This study trip to Beijing also embodies the close relationship between the two countries. We hope that these training activities can continue and that more young scholars will be sent to study in China.

During an interview, monk Yonten khaitso said he felt very fortunate to have the opportunity to study at the High-level Tibetan Buddhism College of China. He says he will definitely study hard and in the future will pass on the Buddhist culture and knowledge learned here to Mongolia.

It is reported that the temple selected ten young monks and two assistants to attend the training. During the about one year’s time, they will learn about Tibetan grammar, Tibetan calligraphy, Chinese language, the basic theory of Buddhism, religious rituals, computing and other courses. They will also visit Wutai Mountain in north China’s Shanxi Province  and other places.

There are many Tibetan Buddhist followers in Mongolia and there is a long history of Buddhist exchanges between Mongolia and China. In recent years, exchanges between the Tibetan Buddhist communities of the two countries have become increasingly closer, with numerous Buddhist group visits. The Buddhist Association of China once invited Mongolian Buddhist representatives to attend the Fourth World Buddhist Forum and twice invited Mongolian Buddhists to visit China. And in 2016 they were invited to visit Mongolia in return.

On July 15, 2015, Panchen Lama  Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu received a group of eight Mongolian Buddhists at the  Xihuangsi Monastery in Beijing.

At the opening ceremony, monks from the High-level Tibetan Buddhism College of China offered Hada to the monks from Mongolia as well.
