Tseren Pachen: Tibet's improved healthcare thanks to the Party and country
Thanks to the Party and the country's concern and care for Tibet, the region's mortality rate for pregnant women and newborns continued to decrease in the last five years, said Tseren Pache, a delegate from southwest China's Tibet autonomous region to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), when receiving an interview at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Oct. 18.

Tseren Pachen, an ob-gyn doctor from Ngari Prefecture of Tibet, said that the decrease is contributed to the two following factors.
First, with better living conditions benefited from the central government's good policies, the people of Tibet are living better and are more conscious of their healthcare, compared with the poor sanitation and inconvenient transportation as well as their less aware of healthcare in the past.
The government has implemented many beneficial policies, including providing reimbursement for hospital stays for labor and delivery, and subsidy for aftercare, which help to reduce infant and pregnant women's mortality rate.
Second, since the group medical aid to Tibet launched, doctors sent to aid Tibet trained doctors step by step in areas like Ngari, greatly improving the level of local medical care.
