Purang port welcomes overseas tourist parties

Tibet this year has welcomed its first group of overseas tourists parties via the region's Purang Port, according to information from the Shiquanhe River Customs department of Ngari Prefecture in Tibet.

The group includes two parties, with tourists from Australia, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Nepal, and other countries.

Located in southeastern part of Ngari, Tibet, the Purang port borders India and Nepal, and is one of the major trading ports in the western region of Tibet, China.

Dondrub Norbu, a Chief of the the Shiquanhe River Port said, Purang port is a first class land port in China.  As the infrastructure and management continueto improve, foreign visitors passing in and out via the port increase every year.

Now, the port has cooperated with the Purang Border Inspection and Quarantine Bureau to simplify the inspection process, improve work efficiency, and achieve "zero wait" during the port-passing process. 

According to statistics released by an official conference on Tibet tourism, Tibet received a total of 23.1594 million visitors from home and abroad in 2016, including 321.9 thousand foreign tourists, achieving an international tourism receipt of 194 million dollars.
