Monks get a greater sense of gain in Tibet
"Nowadays the conditions of living and Buddhism practice are much better than the past. We have places to live, can afford the medical fees and get support as the elderly," said Tashi Norbu, a monk from the Ruba Monastery, Nyimu County, Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region.
The changes that Tashi Norbu referred to is from his personal experiences at the Ruba Monastery in recent years.
He said that the Ruba Monastery is located in a remote area and monks' Buddhism practice conditions were bad in the past as the monastery income was low.
However, all has been changed in recent years.
The Ruba monastery not only has access to water, electricity, roads, radio, television and so on, but also provided the monks with medical, pension and personal accident insurance, as well as a free medical examination every year, which is through the Tibet Autonomous Region's favorable policies to temples and monks.
In Tashi’s view, these measures have solved many of the practical difficulties facing the monks, and created a good environment for their devotion to Buddhism practice.
Sonam Tenzin, also has strong feelings towards the changes brought about by these favorable policies, especially the concerns to his family by the governments and cadres.
Sonam Tenzin is one of monks in the 600-year-old Sanga Monastery, located in the heart of the old town of Dagze County in Lhasa.
“Not to do any evil, to cultivate good, to purify one's mind, this is the teaching of the Buddhism," said Sonam.
To courageously progress in the good and eliminate the evil, for the peace and happiness of all living beings, is the only common aspiration of Buddhists.
