Chinese president Xi Jinping stressed the importance of people-centered development in land greening on April 2 when taking part in a voluntary tree planting activity in the eastern suburbs of Beijing, capital of China.

Xi, also General Secretary of the Central Committee of CPC and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said that all people should treat ecological environment as important as our lives and join in to make painstaking efforts to build a beautiful China.

The president was well welcomed by the public and students planting trees there. After planting several trees in person, the president watered trees together with students and asked about their studies and physical training, urging them to love labor and raise the awareness of environment protection.

Besides, Xi urged that leading officials at all levels should set examples for and call on all the public to persevere in planting trees voluntarily to improve ecological system and its stability.
