China's anti-graft chief has urged comprehensive supervision over all state functionaries.
Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), made the remarks during a three-day inspection tour in southwest China's Yunnan Province, which ended Tuesday.
He asked for "faithful fulfillment of the supervisory personnels' responsibilities empowered by the Party Constitution, the Constitution and the newly-adopted Supervision Law, and the resolute safeguard of the core status of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, the authority of the CPC Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership."
"They should thus continue to make unremitting efforts to battle corruption, and address corruption and bad conduct that occur on the people's doorsteps," Zhao said.
During the tour, Zhao went to a village in Menghai County and visited several impoverished families. Zhao asked the Party cadres at the grassroots level to draw a clear line between public and personal interests, be clean-handed and do a good job in poverty alleviation, so that the impoverished people could lead better lives as soon as possible.
He also underlined the focus on major issues that concerned the people the most, and the rectification of conduct that damaged the people's interests.
