Silicon valley maker delivers live remote course on robotics to Tibetan students
On September 10th, Teacher’s Day of China, a high ranking maker from the Silicon Valley offered a vividly taught remote course regarding robotics at a community cultural center near the Zhenru Township street area in Shanghai.
He taught the class to both Tibetan middle school students in Yadong county and Shanghai students. More than 40 students from 3 middle schools including the Tongchuan middle school completed on the spot production of a robot utilizing their own hands in the process through the remotely taught course.
Kyle Stirling is an engineer with rich experience coding software and electronics as well as robots. He is a senior instructor for the National Science Fund (U.S.) NSF I-Corps project, a lecturer at Indiana University in the college of Computer Science and Information Studies. At the same time, he is a highly experienced maker. He shared his rich experience to students from both Shanghai as well as Tibet in the experimentation and innovation room for robotics at the community cultural center. Stirling encouraged middle school students at the Yadong Middle School to learn more about recent science and technology through the internet and to also be in communication with classmates in Shanghai, to work together and during the class he made it clear that they could also become “outstanding makers” themselves.
