Nathu La Pass on Sino-Indian border reopens
At 10:00 am on May 2, the bright five-star red flag of China was rising in the majestic national anthem at the Nathu La Pass, marking the reopening of the Nathu La border trade channel between China and India since last time in 2006, people.cn reported.
It is the exclusive overland border trade channel between the two countries.
The past decade has seen continuous development of Sino-Indian relations. Especially in 2015, as the pilgrimage route of Indian official pilgrims via Nathu La Pass opened, the personnel flow and border trade via Nathu La Pass showed a blowout-type growth. The officers and soldiers stationed at the Yadong Frontier Inspection Station in front of the Nathu La Pass have always, taking maintaining the port stability and serving local economic development as their duty, actively made innovations to provide services without any error, incident or complaint in nearly ten years running. They have created a good customs clearance environment for the economic prosperity and port development of the two countries.
In 2015, the volume of border trade via Nathu La Pass surpassed 150 million Yuan (23 million US dollars). This important hub on the Ancient Tea Horse Road and Silk Road is gradually becoming dynamic and prosperous again. The officers and soldiers stationed at the Yadong Frontier Inspection Station will certainly make more positive contributions to the border trade development and Sino-Indian cultural exchanges with stricter working style and more enthusiastic services, and be of greater value for China’s strategy of building the “Belt and Road” and boosting the construction of the overland passage in South Asia.
